World🌎Fest: One City, Many Cultures

Stamford’s diversity deserves a celebration! 

🌎🎶💃 Stop by the WorldFest: One City, Many Cultures on August 16th as we celebrate the community through music and dance representing India, China, Haiti, Bangladesh, Mexico and the United States. Bring the whole family and join in on the fun.

Presented in partnership with the Stamford Mayor's Multicultural Council.

The GOPIO girls will present "Dances of India" which will give us a glimpse into varied dance forms from the north, south, east, west and central regions India.


GOPIO-CT, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, the Connecticut Chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin, serves as a non-partisan, secular, civic and community service organization – strengthening partnerships with local organizations, promoting awareness of Indian culture, customs and contributions of PIOs through programs, forums, events and youth activities. 


This piece is organized by Yashasvi who loves to spread joy through dance. She is a holistic health practitioner, American heart association CPR Training coordinator with Westport Volunteer EMS, and is currently at 401 of her goal of 365 videos for her "Dancercise with Loved ones" project. You can join her on Fridays at 8.30 am  at the LA fitness in Trumbull or in the MAG room, level 2, at the SONO mall, every Tuesday at 6pm for zumba with her dear friend and instructor extraordinaire Christina. 


Yashasvi is joined by the following amazing ladies that took time out of their busy schedules to learn these routines. A little bit about the “Dance💃365 " GOPIO  divas:


Anjali is an engineer by profession, a high-energy diva who loves expressing herself through dance/zumba..Whether it’s on the dance floor or in everyday life, she brings passion, movement, and enthusiasm to everything.


Hima, a nurse practitioner DNP APRN at Yale New Haven, mom of 2, loves caring for her patients, reading, writing poems, dancing and Bollywood music.


 Nalini is a lifelong dancer and instructor with more than a decade of classical Bharatanatyam training, complemented by experience in ballet, modern, African, and Latin dance. Rooted in her Indo-Guyanese heritage, her style blends classical grace and expressive storytelling with the rhythm, energy, and unmistakable flair of the Caribbean.


Pia is a Special Education teacher and tutor in New York who has always had a love for reading, creativity, and the arts. She enjoys getting lost in a good book, taking Zumba classes, and finding new ways to express herself through movement. She’s excited to be part of this performance and share in the joy of dance!


Shubhi is from the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. She loves to dance and all things creative. She has just moved to the US after marriage and is excited to represent India at the World fest celebration.


Sreetulasi is a classically trained dancer who has performed globally and until recently was working as a team lead at Lockheed Martin Corporation.


Vanessa is a former chef that worked at a Venezuelan restaurant and an upscale boutique hotel restaurant that transitioned to becoming a top vacation saleswoman for a major premium hotel brand by day, an entrepreneur, content creator, and a mindset coach by night that is helping girls and women confidently build their "dream life. She is always up for a challenge!


 Yuka has a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a career as an Immigration Client Relations Specialist. She has always been passionate about world cultures. Beyond her professional work, she stays connected to global rhythms and diverse communities through dance, including Zumba, Cumbia, and Bhangra.
